What's new
Here's what's new in each version of the TELUS EMR Mobile app. Some of these changes are usable or visible only after a corresponding update is completed to your main TELUS EMR (Wolf, Med Access, PS Suite, Kinlogix, or Medesync).
2019
2018
Sign-off documents (Med Access): Via the EMR Mobile inbox, Med Access users can now sign-off active tasks that have observations such as DI reports, hospital reports, other scanned documents, or unsigned visits. To use this feature, users can simply open their EMR Mobile inbox and see the list of documents awaiting their sign-off, along with labs and other tasks in the inbox (requires Med Access 5.7)
Inbox functionality added to Medesync: Medesync users are now able to read, reply, comment, compose and archive (mark as done) their message/tasks from the EMR Mobile user interface. From the main menu, simply select the Inbox to see the list of message/tasks pending in your inbox. You can create a message about a patient directly from the patient chart, for a more natural and efficient workflow. The patient name will be automatically completed, to help save time. The active message/tasks associated to a patient are also displayed in the patient chart view (this feature requires Medesync version 9.1 or higher).
View documents (Wolf): From the journal view of the patient chart, Wolf users can now see the documents that are in the Document tab of Wolf EMR.
Journal view enhancements (Med Access and Wolf): Several improvements were made to the navigation in journal view, including auto-scrolling to the bottom of a lab report when annotating labs, the ability to go back to the inbox after processing labs, and consistent coloring for items requiring user attention. Wolf users can now annotate labs at the result level.
Add new visit note (Med Access and Wolf): Med Access and Wolf users can now add simple text notes for visits from EMR Mobile. To add a visit note, simply tap on the “+” icon and select the Add note icon. Start typing the text in the note and save by selecting Done. The note will appear as an encounter at the bottom of the journal view (requires Med Access 5.7). Wolf EMR rules to add visit notes are respected in EMR Mobile; for example, an appointment for the patient must exist for a given day in order to add the visit note; otherwise, the note cannot be added.
Rich text note entry enhancements (PS Suite): Improved the rich text note creation in PS suite by hiding the icons for rich text formatting, allowing more space for text entry. If the user wants to use formatting in a new note, the icons can be made visible by tapping on the “TT” font icon at the top right of the editing area.
Several defect fixes, including the following:
Fixed an issue for iOS 9 users where the application was not starting. This will be the last version that supports iOS 9. Please update your device to iOS 10 or higher to get new versions of EMR Mobile
The date of the past procedure is now properly displayed in the medical summary
The calendar day view now scrolls to the proper time of the day. Rules for scrolling: For today, it scrolls to the current time. For other days, it scrolls to the first bookable time. If the other day does not have a bookable time (e.g. Sunday), it scrolls to 7 a.m.
PS Suite users can now expand a collapsed note view while in edit mode using the chevron icon ^
Issue where users were allowed to tap on an Edit note icon when they were already editing it

Several user interface and navigation fixes
Several French translations corrections
Create a new prescription (KinLogix): KinLogix users will be able to enter new prescriptions in the patient chart. Users can go to a patient, tap on the quick add menu (“+” sign on the bottom right) where you can select options to add a picture, a new message-task, and now a new prescription. The prescription screen allows users to enter new prescriptions, which are saved in the chart. The EMR Mobile prescription module allows the selection of drugs from the EMR drug database, and displays interaction warnings if applicable. If needed, the prescriber pane can be dragged down to see the clinical summary or chart entries in order to make informed decisions on the medication.
Existing prescriptions cannot be edited via TELUS EMR Mobile. The EMR user’s rights and access controls to add prescriptions are automatically enforced. Please note that this feature will require the KinLogix update to version 6.0, to be released later this year.

Users can go to a patient, tap on the quick add menu button (“+” sign at the bottom right) where you can select options to add a picture, a new message-task, and now a new text note. The note-writing screen allows users to enter new text notes; it can apply different formatting options. Text notes are saved in the chart.
Existing text notes can also be edited via TELUS EMR Mobile. To edit a note, simply tap on the submenu (3 dots) of the note header and select the option to edit the note. The EMR user’s rights and access controls to add or edit notes are automatically enforced. Please note that this feature will require an update of PS Suite EMR to version 5.12.40x (to be released in the second half of November).
Clinical document viewer (Med Access and Wolf): EMR Mobile now has the ability to display multiple types of documents and attachments that were not previously included in the patient chart. The chart view will include a paperclip icon on documents that have attachments.
Med Access: Labs, visits and tasks that have a response observation. Later in the year, when the Med Access system is upgraded to version 5.6, users will see also tasks that have a request observation, prescription events (Approve / Renew / Discontinue), and attachments to the tasks.
Wolf: The new clinical document viewer displays labs, visits, prescription events and attachments that are linked to encounters.
Multiple user interface and workflow enhancements:
Ability to view incoming lab results within the chart when opening them from the Inbox, so users have the context of other entries in the patient chart (Med Access and Wolf).
The quick access button (“+” sign) now allows users to launch the camera to take a picture from the patient chart. In the near future, this button will feature more options (adding prescriptions, new text notes, etc.).
Users can see a count of the number of active messages in a badge icon on the patient banner. The badge is not displayed when there are no active messages. If high priority items are pending, the badge icon is red, otherwise, it is yellow. The yellow hue matches the hue of the message in the list, depending on whether the message task is assigned to the user (darker yellow) or to another user (lighter yellow).
Enhanced the line break representation in the mobile app for Wolf’s text reports with an observation type of “ST”.
The pinch gesture now collapses the expanded items in the journal view, which also contains several visual enhancements (Wolf and Med Access)
The patient link in the Inbox list caused confusion and complex workflows when users accidentally tapped on it. This link is now disabled, making the user interface and workflow smoother.
Improved the Inbox automatic refresh at regular intervals without users having to refresh manually; new messages-tasks are listed in the inbox and replied or archived messages are not listed.
Several defect fixes, including the following:
When a user enters a new PIN to reset the expired one, the new PIN is now properly applied
Fixed a few issues where after an automatic time out, the response time was slow or generated errors

You can see formatted text, images or attachments from the note or document detailed view. As part of this new viewer, the pinch action to zoom on a certain area was also improved in addition to the zoom indicators.
View historical test results from a lab report (Med Access, Wolf and PS Suite): In addition to the existing lab viewing and processing functionality, users can now tap on a result to view previous results of the same test, compare them to the current result and make informed decisions (requires Med Access version 5.5 or higher, or PS Suite version 5.12.10X or higher). To access this function, simply tap on a specific test result to obtain a few previous instances of the same test for comparison purposes.
New functionality added to the journal view (Wolf and Med Access): This version of EMR Mobile continues to build on the new journal view, initially available to Med Access and Wolf users, and to be offered later to other TELUS EMRs. New layout of notes in the patient chart (Wolf & Med Access): In the All notes view, the chart is evolving, allowing you to see more information on the screen at the same time and to review details in a more efficient way. This release displays the items in the Summary list as a single row per item. From this list, encounters can be expanded or collapsed within the list. The order of the list has also been updated to enable scrolling up to a point in time and then navigating the items in a chronological way. This new view will initially be available for Wolf users, followed by Med Access once your EMR is updated to version 5.5, and later, followed by the other TELUS EMRs.
